IEEE CASS Charles Desoer Life Science Systems Student Attendance Grant

The IEEE CASS Charles Desoer Life Science Systems Student Attendance Grant supports outstanding students who have demonstrated excellence and a strong commitment to life science systems and enables them to attend IEEE BioCAS 2026.

The grant aims to encourage continued contributions to research and innovation in life science circuits and systems.

Important Dates

Application Deadline: September 14, 2026

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements at the time of application:

• Be a current IEEE and IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) student member.
• Have an accepted paper at IEEE BioCAS 2026.
• Be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in engineering or a related field at an accredited college or university.
• Apply as an individual student, rather than as a group or team.
• Members of the Award Committee and individuals involved in the selection process are not eligible.

There are no restrictions based on age, nationality, or geographic location.

Applicants must remain in compliance with IEEE and CASS membership requirements throughout the award process.

Grant Support

The total grant allocation may be up to USD 1,900 annually.

The Award Committee may select one recipient or multiple recipients and divide the available grant among the selected students.

The grant may be used to support expenses associated with attending IEEE BioCAS 2026, including:

• Conference registration
• Transportation
• Accommodation
• Meals
• Other eligible conference attendance expenses

Each selected recipient will also receive a certificate.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be evaluated based on:

• Quality of the paper content
• Originality
• Significance
• Quality of presentation
• Potential impact

Preference will be given to work that closely aligns with life science circuits and systems.
